Level 1

A.  Discover the names of the five-kingdom classification system.  Write each kingdom on a separate 3X5 card.  Keep the information for each kingdom on this card.

B. Write a definition of each kingdom on the card.

C.  List three characteristics of the living things in each kingdom.

D.  Find pictures of two examples of living things in each kingdom.  Save these pictures to your disk.  Make certain you label each picture so you know which kingdom it is in and its name.

E.  Put all this information (A-D) on 5 separate Word Documents, one for each kingdom.

F.  Show these documents to your instructor and if this mission is accomplished you may go to Level 2.

Level 2
A.  You are now going to learn about the naming system in science.  Read together with your team pages A5 and A6 in your Real Science book.

B.  List the seven categories used to classify living things on a new card.  Write down how you can remember the order.  Each person on your team needs to write this down.   http://vilenski.org/science/safari/classifyall/classify_all.html

C.  Look in your book on Resources R2 and R3 in your science book.  Notice the key and see if you can find each level of classification.

D.  Complete the chart with the name of a living thing from all five kingdoms and their scientific name.  Print the chart or get one from your instructor.

Show the results of your quiz to your instructor and if this mission is accomplished you may go to Level 4.

Level 4

A.  Do "Observing Fungi" in your textbook on A12.

B.  Record your results in your Activity Journal page 5 and answer the questions on page 6.

C. Show the results of your activity to your instructor and if this mission is accomplished you may go to Level 5.

Level 5

A.    Complete the rubrics for your team.  One rubric is the group work and one rubric is the work completed on Levels 1-4.  Print the rubrics and discuss them with your group.  Fill out the two rubrics for this mission.

B. Compile all the work you have completed for this mission.

C. Write a reflection about what you have learned from this mission in your science notebook.  Include the reactions of Aristotle when you told him all the information about current classification systems in life science.
